Challenge

As ATCO Frontec expanded its operations, managing field service activities across remote and distributed sites became increasingly complex. Their team struggled with siloed systems, inefficient inventory handling, limited job scheduling visibility, and inconsistent reporting. With Oracle ERP and ServiceMax operating separately, processes like purchase order creation, job scheduling, and receipt management were disconnected. Field teams needed an improved process to handle preventative maintenance, inventory allocation, and service work order accuracy. ATCO Frontec also sought guidance on Tableau to enable reporting and enhancements for advanced insights from financial and operational data.

Solution

ATCO Frontec partnered with Bolt Data to unify their facility service operations and lay the groundwork for scalable, intelligent field service management.

  • ERP Integration & Custom Development: Bolt Data connected ATCO’s Oracle ERP with ServiceMax using custom Apex development, automating workflows like job scheduling, receipt generation, and purchase order creation.
  • Inventory Optimization in ServiceMax: Bolt Data implemented Allocated Stock functionality to ensure parts ordered for specific work orders were reserved and only consumable within that job, improving field inventory control and reducing waste.
  • Managed Services: ATCO leveraged Bolt Data’s Managed Services to support their ongoing ServiceMax needs, including:
    • Timely issue resolution and bug fixes
    • Enhancements and APEX code reviews
    • Release planning and environment health checks
    • Custom updates like PM plan automation and WO verification tools
  • Business Intelligence with Tableau: Bolt Data implemented Tableau, trained end users, and reviewed ATCO’s Finance Dashboard proof-of-concept. Performance was optimized and recommendations were provided for rollout and user adoption.
  • Future-Ready Vision: Bolt Data is supporting ATCO’s roadmap to evaluate IoT and AI-powered automation for real-time facility monitoring and predictive maintenance.

Results

  • System Efficiency: ERP-to-ServiceMax integration eliminated manual handoffs, accelerating service delivery and increasing administrative efficiency.
  • Inventory Accuracy: Allocated Stock ensured parts availability for work orders, improving technician readiness and reducing delays.
  • Operational Continuity: Ongoing managed services support allowed ATCO to keep its Salesforce and ServiceMax environments running reliably, with proactive improvements delivered regularly.
  • Data-Driven Insights: Tableau dashboard enhancements empowered finance and operations teams with real-time visibility into performance metrics.
  • Strategic Momentum: With foundational systems now connected, ATCO is positioned to adopt advanced IoT and AI capabilities to elevate its field service operations even further.
